One advantage of having the phones with camera is that you are the owner of a mobile bar-code reader. The Nokia N-Series phones  comes with a built in bar-code reader.; the other phones needs additional softwares. All of the proud N-series owners must have seen this application in the Application folder(Applications>office> Bar code reader), but many must be confused how to use this. Many must have tried it on the product bar codes  that will be on various gadgets. But the application shows scanning and there will be no response no matter how long you hold it.

So here is how it works.(S60 V2 and other phone users scroll down to the bottom.)
The mobile based barcode reader requires a special kind of barcode. So the first step will be creating a custom barcode.
Nokia provides this function in the site  Nokia Mobile Codes.

1. Click go create button.

2. The next page will have a set of instructions on the usage of the application.
Accept it and continue to the next page as shown below.

3. The next page is the customization page. The options are simple and its easy to create the bar code.

4. So now we have created the barcode. Let’s read it now. Open up your application.

5. Select the scan code option to scan the code which we have created right now.

6. Now position your camera on the image and you can read the text or link you have just created.

7. You can save the data right in your phone or delete the scanned data.

For S60 V2 and other phones

It is unfortunate that Nokia has not included the application for s6o V2 users. The S60 V2 and other phones have external applications for this purpose. I have included a link where you can get the application. This is not the only application available and just by searching you can get the others.
