i have been getting the same doubts from many of my friends on how to set passkey for BSNL wifi enabled modems so i decided to make a post about the same and so here I`m giving wifi security configuration for BSNL type II wifi enabled modem “Wa 1003a”

Since ur using wi-fi its already configured and you only have to enable the security

* Open ur browser and enter http://192.168.1.1 and enter the user name and password which is by default admin (both user name and password).U can change if its a security risk.

* Once inside Go to advanced TAB—>wireless security

* This should show three security levels namely “none”, “WEP” and “WPA”

Select WPA and click apply

* Enter WPA page and select PSk string and enter any text which is ur password(this is different from the BSNL password).Enter a strong password which is harder to crack.Click apply.

* To save ur settings Go to Tools tab–>system commands—->save all

After saving press restart button from the same page.

* After restarting check ur internet connection.

* Open ur laptop or PC which is wireless enabled and open the wireless settings and scan for any wireless connection.It scans and shows ur connection.Since its password protected it will display as “Security enabled wireless network”.select it and press connect.

* Now it asks for password/network key enter ur password(Psk string) and click ok ur node will now be connected to the network.

This is the config for BSNL modem if u want maximum security go for latest wi-fi routers with n-draft connection,these routers have advanced security features like WPA 2 and MAC address filters
