McAfee Now Offering New Link Shortening Service
Security firm McAfee has just added it’s own new URL shortening service known as McAf.ee.The theory is that people will use McAfee’s short URL service because the links are managed by a trusted recognized security company. I’ll say this for mcaf.ee: their landing page sure is salmon-colored. Beyond that, this is just another ho-hum link shortener — they’re not even the first provider to offer “safe” links. Bit.ly has been working with Websense and Sophos since late last year.

The company will use some of the same databases it uses for its SiteAdvisor service and other security products to help ensure that the destination isn’t malicious or spammy.
Here is what the shortened URLs look like (using the Hackersorigin forums homepage as an example): http://mcaf.ee/f4a61
